Snow & Graphite iMacs FTW. Good score!
My friend texted me asking if I wanted an old iMac for free, I obviously said yes. It is a snow 600MHz iMac G3 with 512MB of RAM, 40GB HD, and it works wonderfully. I'm currently looking for my 10.4 disks and going to install Tiger on it. Can't wait.

Your dual 1.8 GHz machine only has a total of 4 DIMM slots.
It can hold a total of 4 GB RAM with 2 matched pairs
of 1 GB DIMMS
You currently have 2 of your total 4 DIMM slots occupied with the stock RAM.
If you go to Crucial you need to select your model
and the appropriate offerings will be displayed.
Same thing with OWC ( www.macsales.com.)
They sell factory original Apple/Samsung RAM
If you want to add a total 1 GB you need to purchase
a pair of 512 sticks.
RAM has gotten so affordable, you might want to hold off till you can afford a pair of 1 GB sticks
and ramp that puppy up another 2GB.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, JUST GET A BUMPER AND BE DONE WITH IT.
I hate new iPhone launches, because they turn the MacRumors forums into a peanut gallery for about two months. Ugh!

I had that problem too. But then I have no repercussion though - i hacked OSX.2 to hell.
On the other hand, Panther seems to be pretty good on its own so i have yet to hack it.

I'm just curious if they're going to see that I started it well after when they ended it. I don't know how much information the reps have in-store or what all they do when they upgrade, so I was hoping someone who had done it once already could tell me if they had any trouble.
It doesn't matter what has happened to anyone, or what we may think will happen. That could all be different in 14 months. Do you really need that much planning ahead?
Besides, who cares if they know you "did the loophole". Bottom line is you had an OG iPhone and then had another. Who cares

Huh. Interesting. I've been waiting for this feature to come to iMacs, but I find it curious why they didn't mention this at all in the iMac section of the site.

Has anyone been able to use the "FixIt" feature that they demo'd? When I make a mistake and it gets red-underlined, I can right click on it and choose "Show Fix It" but nothing happens...

Hi,
I'm sure I'm duplicating another thread, but I can't find an explanation here or on Apple.com's support forum!
I'm a novice server admin running a server at a church, which we use primarily for web hosting and file sharing. We have our main website hosted on the server... which works well. It's super easy to update the website with iweb -- and super easy for everyone else who's not so into computers.
I'm trying to bring that same ease to updating our Children's Center website with iWeb and hosting it on the server. It's currently hosted on GoDaddy's web hosting, which has awful customization settings. I'm trying to switch us from GoDaddy's hosting to web hosting on the mac.
So far, by changing GoDaddy's DNS info to point to our dyndns host, I can get our GoDaddy domain to point to the server.... but it loads the church's website! I have set up a new Web Site in Server Admin with the Web Folder pointing to the output of iWeb (just as the church's website is set up). I have also tried two different DNS setups from browsing the interwebs (all morning), neither of which work.
1) I've set up (childrenscenter).org as a Primary Zone with a Web Service running underneath. The web service points to the Machine ID of the church's Primary Zone, which points to the address of the server. (which, I understand, should point it to the web service, which would point it to the right folder, but no! Argh)
2) I read elsewhere to set up my second site as an alias under my Primary Zone... so I tried that, simply pointing (childrenscenter).org to (server.church).org, which, also, should point to the Machine ID, to the address of the server, to the children's center website!
What am I doing wrong? Im thinking my DNS is set up right but I guess I dont know how to set up the web services properly. Ideally, Id like to keep any tinkering within Server Admin, as I can teach a dedicated volunteer to do that easier than using a terminal command or editing some obscure file.
Thanks in advanced. :)

To use iFile to install a deb, here is how I do it:
Download the .deb to your computer.
Open iFile on your ipod, and click on the WiFi logo on the bottom.
A page of text will display, with a url at the end, something like "http://192.168.xxx.xxx:10000".
Enter the url into the browser on your computer.
A root directory of your ipod will appear in the browser, with an upload box.
Use the upload box to put the .deb somewhere on your ipod, like in /tmp.
In iFile, tap Done and browse to the .deb, and tap it, then tap Installer in the menu. It should then install.

Hmm, as far as I know they don't offer RSS feeds...
But that's expected after all, they would lose oh-so-much money if people used aggregators rather than viewing their ad-filled site...

Turbo Boost effectively lets a processor speed up when it's not using all of its cores by 'shutting off' the cores that aren't in use. Off the top of my head the i5 3.1Ghz can Turbo Boost to 3.4Ghz while the i7 3.4Ghz can run to 3.8Ghz. The real world difference is relatively small but can be worth a couple of frames a second in a game or a few seconds off a benchmark.
Incorrect. Turbo boost is "dynamic overclocking". Depending on the current number of cores being used and if additional processing power is required, the CPU will slowly increase the clock rate for the currently active cores. It'll do this incrementally until the thermal operating limit of the processor is reached.

Why does everyone keep using this program?? It is so unreliable.. I use something called disk radar and its 300 times better than voltans poc program. Either disk radar or DiskTools Pro - those are much better than using voltans garbage program.. for instance.. I got a 2TB drive a few days ago and already smart utility says its failing.. I call BS here and then I ran it under windows and using disktools pro and disk radar - the drive passed all tests and is NOT failing..
Stay away from smart utility - its a POC program (POC=Piece of crap).
 Ok then. Diskradar says my disk is excellent, however it has had bad sectors before resulting in lockups and dataloss. It also doesn't let you run disk tests.

Its been a very long time until any news in and around unlocks is out now. During 3g, 3gs, the unlocks were very quick. On the IP4, the wait was around the latest release of the 4.3. Now we are 4.3.1. I believe 4.3.1 has changed the baseband again to a new algorithm. I'm not sure if they will hang on for some time with the new algorithm or release the unlock.
I just went for a short business trip and used data roaming which costs about 19.95 an MB. Trip was sudden and I didn't have the time to purchase the rebel or gevey.
In my opinion it is wrong in AT&T's part to not genuinely unlock the iPhone when there are legitimate users satisfying the contract. In any case they have an early termination fee any ways.
Instead of us pursing the dev team, we should start an online petition to enable AT&T unlocking the iPhone legally.

Thanks for the post. I am really interested in a leather case with a front cover.
The site says "preorder." But you have already received the case. So those cases on the site are actually in stock?
Well, when I ordered it, the website did not say "preorder" it just gave the option to order. So I'm not sure if maybe they've since run out of cases? I'm not 100% sure about that.
But yes, I received my case about a week and a half ago.

I just picked up a Sony DSC-V3 for about $450. Helluva camera, normally $700 but I found it cheap online. I highly recommend it, many great features: 7.2MP, Full manual mode, awesome lens with the ability to add other lenses.
