Does anybody know any link that gives online status of PERM labor ? I heard that there is one for employers but not for employee.
No you cannot do this, just the Employer and Lawyer can do this. My Employer gives me the login password, perhaps you can ask the Employer to make for you a sub-account, or to give you the Login Dates.

It is just not enough to add a new member to IV. In my opinion, we also need the new member to be proud of associating himself/herself with IV.
Here is what every new member needs to be made aware of-
- What IV has achieved in the last year of existence?
(Manager's amendment, media interviews including the Reuters article plus the last minute attempts in the lame-duck session)
- IV is the **only** grass-roots organization in the US working towards issues of Skilled Legal Immigration. The affected people in retrogression runs close to a million.
The thing I am driving at is that new members join and do not persist with IV because they have not been made aware of what IV is and what it has achieved.
It is not about IV core members alone, the issues at hand are affecting YOU!!!!

True. They are already preparing tax returns from India. I've heard of some tax preparers (competition to H&R Block) who have a VoIP phone and prepare tax returns by interviewing the tax filer. And they are lot more effective in getting a return. A small correction to AmericanDesi's observation that EB1 is for Ph.d . You don't need a formal Ph.d for EB-1. If you have demonstrable extraordinary ability which will benefit the US government and people, you come under that category. This usually requires 40+ peer reviewed publications in International Journals in your area. It isn't that easy buddy getting in under EB1 if you think that all you have to do is to be in school for 5 years and submit a thesis at the end of it. And it is getting tougher and tougher to get in under EB1 as they are scrutinized more.

this is not just a question of depriving those who did not come.
let's please recognise that many people did have genuine compulsions as well.
the more important issue at hand is that sensitive information should not be released on an open forum. state chapters are free to organize live meetings and brief their members on lawmaker meeting experiences. those who attend chapter sessions are welcome to participate and learn- and join in for future meetings which should continue at the district/state level.

Below is a very good article from the "Economic Policy Institute " that highlights the fact that 2 well known Indian firms have single handedly lapped up 65% of H1B visas last year and have applied for just 69 green cards . Thats a GC application rate of 0.0004%. i Cannot help agree with the facts in this article. I totally agree that firms like these which abuse the system ought to be severely punished and blacklisted, so that geniunine US companies can get their required workers , when they need them . Perhaps regular posters can cite this example to urge other "silent" members to participate more. Participation in IV could include - providing updates and answers, raising awareness, participating in IV campaigns, donations etc.
Basically, anything that provides positive encouragement to other folks like him instead of negativity against anyone.

Hi,
My daughter's pp expired March '06. We live in FL, so we need to apply to the Houston center.
So do we (a) apply for a new passport? or is it still 'renewal'?
(b) send renewal fees? how much - is it the same for an adult pp?
Believe me, I have searched all over, up-and-down, for any info on this specific situation (child pp, expired more than one year) but in vain :(.

My experience says it doesn't matter too much. Just attach a letter explaining that and send the fees. If you are in rush pay the highest fees or else send the lowest fees. If there is anything missing they will send the application back (at their own cost) and ask you to provide more info/fees.

I spoke with IO on 3rd, initiated SR on 4th, initiated congressional request today i.e. 5th. My Infopass is on 11th. Will complete 10 years in US on 13th. Birthday few days after that. So I guess something should work...ROFL...

Before the first application gets to process, I left the company and joined another company. The GC which I am waiting for since then was filed by the second company. They filed it on EB3 eventhough I was eligible for EB2 for "easier processing". At that time both EB2 and EB3 were current. And it remained the same way till I got my labor approved the very same month it went into retrogression. Since then I am waiting.
By the way, my first company sold the labor they filed for me for $15K dollars to another guy. He got his GC in 2005 and just 2 months back he became an US Citizen.
That is a long story told short....

When I did it a few months ago, it took close to 90 days. And, once you submit, you are at their mercy. No information is given, phone calls always end up in 'this mailbox is full crap'.
So, if you need it much faster, I would suggest either calling them prior to submitting and checking if their times have improved or going there in person. I am not sure if that makes a difference.
The 10 day return is supposedly for people who got their passports through Houston. For passports issued in India, it may take up to 90 days.

As every one here knows, the visa movements based on how many LC approvals in a perticular period but not based on the previous analasis. After PERM is introduced, most people started applying in EB2 than EB3 because of many reasons.

I have seen that same tendency on ,when I asked about that, I was told that once your PD is current the RD plays the final role, if my RD is before someones with a 2004 PD then mine is done first. Now the service guy was the one telling me that. Question is how much can we believe them. Obviously we are getting mixed info here.
Lets just hope we all get it soon and this confusion they are causing with all the mixed messages is over soon!

I don't mean to be pessimistic regarding your application, but it seems that USCIS is processing old PDs 2003 and 2004 without looking at RD ( if it is within the published processing time or not). so if you have a PD of 2004 or older, don't worry about your RD and they will touch yours soon, assuming I-140 already approved. but if you have a PD newer than 2004, it might be a while before they get to those even if your RD is before 06/08/07 (published)
Also regarding the service request. I did a SR back in February to get an update of my case and they asked me to wait 45 days to hear something. I called again today ( 60 days later) and it seems that SR I did disapeared ( I even have a reference #). Customer Service rep said they can start a new SR but not sure if it is gonna do anything. they will get to the application when they can. and right now they are precessing 2003 and 2004.

I have efiled to TSC and also did you get the biormtric appointment last time.
Getting EAD approval in 11 days is faaastt.I need to see how fast mine will be.

Hi,
I sent in my OPT application on 26th of March, and it was delivered there on the 29th of March. I still haven't received a receipt and the check hasn't been cashed yet, even though it has been 4 weeks now.
Today, I just mailed in a letter asking in polite words, WTF happened to the application, and sent it to the Lockbox.. Wonder what's going on..
Couple of questions I have:
1. if I file another application electronically, is there any significant problem other than that I may risk losing twice the fees ?
2. Do I get to send the supporting documents to the black hole lock box? or do I get to send it to a Service center where something actually happens?
Any advice is appreciated as I have a job starting July 5th. And without the receipt notice, I'll be out of status on July 24th.

If you think any fraud is going on or there is a law being misused you must complain to USCIS and Ombudsman. Unless it is reported nobody in a position of power will know about it and nothing will be done to stop it.
And this should be done sooner than later. If we keep quiet about this like everyone did for labor substitution, we are the only ones who are going to suffer. I came here in 1998 and did my MS and have been working like dog all these years. Have faced layoffs, exploiting by DCC, had to refile my GC and now these fake EB1 guys come along and get GC in 6 months.
Trust me, I will be reporting the company that I have heard of the case to ombudsman and USCIS. And I think everyone who has heard of this should verify and then report it also.
Lets start this campaign also because in the long run, it will benefit both EB2 and EB3.
And genuine EB1 guys dont have to worry about this because if they really do have extra-ordinary capabilities they should not have hard time proving it (so called Multinational executives)
