What about denying somebody a job because of their, say, intelligence? Charisma? Any number of things that are largely predetermined?
Ethnicity doesn't say anything other than the color of the persons skin. However, intelligence and stuff are things that actually can affect wether you are qualified or not. Two quite different things, if you ask me.

I don't know what kind of posh school would buy iPads! What would they do with them? Hand them out to students and go "hey guys, free iPad!" or would they allow students to browse the web during lessons? Or is it only to read books? In that case, books are cheaper, and offer a more book-like experience... don't they? The idea of school text books being available for the iPad is cool, allowing students to only carry the iPad around, but I don't think text books will get made into digital versions anytime this decade. Teachers usually want students to use books that were published like 5 years ago... I think a laptop would be more suitable for students, but only at university, not at school, since they don't allow you to submit typed text or study from the internet anyway.

I'm tossing up between Regent Street and Bluewater. BW is closer for me, but Regent St is the flagship store. The BW has a sign up already stating that it is going to close at 4pm to get ready for the launch at 6. I'm sure that will give enough time for the crowds to gather outside.
I am tempted to pop up to London and make a day of it. Being a trainee teacher I'm on half term at the moment. If the release got pushed back to November I'd have been pretty peeved.
I'll have an Incase back pack on if anyone wants to find me.

I want pilotwings. I have loved that series and was seriously upset that I went two whole home console generations without seeing a sequel to Pilotwings / Pilotwings 64.

I would love something along the lines of a nano that made phone calls. I could even do without the numeric pad.
I'm with you. I already catched myself looking up a number in my nano's address book ("contacts") and looking for the "call" item. I'd love to have the main menu going "Music \n Phone \n Phone \n Extras etc." But the nano might actually be a little small for a phone. Try holding one at your ear for a minute. How about an add-on that you plug in on the bottom via the dock connector? Makes the thing a little longer and you can just upgrade your iPod. Kinda like the iTrip, but in the exact same design as the iPod itself.

I'm sure this is the first of many companies to ignore the massive PowerPC userbase out there. I wish there was something like a reverse-rosetta.
So much for the age-old tradition of Macs having a much longer useful service life than a Windows PC, now a 2-month old PowerMac is already becoming obsolete.
I wouldn't worry too much just yet. As I said above, just because Adobe has decided to proceed in this manner does not mean everyone else will too. I'm betting that PPC machines will still be "safe" for a few more years in this respect. And plus, for many "non-Pro" users like myself, I don't need to run the latest version of certain software, so even if the newest versions are Intel only, this won't affect me much. My Office v.X will still run fine, just as my Photoshop Elements 3, iLife 06 and Toast 7 will. They meet my needs so I don't feel a need to upgrade them at this point in time even if new versions come out (UB or not). :cool:

This survey is seriously flawed. I've been unable to secure an AT&T iPad within the 3 stores near me.
Verizon iPad? They have them, at all combinations. Wi-Fi? Hit and Miss, but AT&T iPads are gone.

Is it possible Apple could release the final version with the option to initialize a drive with ZFS prior to install? Everything I have read about ZFS seems to point to it as a next logical step for Apple's OS.
I'd guess about 40% chance of that (which is actually pretty good; the odds that they'll release a final version with the option to initialize a drive with NTFS are around 0%). I'd like to see it - I have seen the future, and it's ZFS.

Well the iMacs did get the Core 2 Dou processors after the Mac Pro. The Mac Pros came out with Core 2 Dou first.
The PowerMacs/Mac Pros are 64 bit systems. So Apple couldn't upgrade the Mac Pros with 32 bit processors from its old 32 bit processors. Because people who have Powermacs/Mac Pros needed the 64 bit processor.

When I used a PC I used to use Cool Edit Pro, which then changed to Adobe Audition. So I'm delighted that they are creating a new product, particularly as I hate the only other real contender - Bias Peak.
I've been using Audacity, but it just not advanced enough sometimes.

Oh please. If the NDP had got in then Canada would be royally screwed. The NDP has a poor record in a number of provinces of running the provincial governments into deep deficits and scaring away businesses.
I would take the opinion piece from someone with the Toronto Star with a little bit of salt. They are like the Huffington Post of Canada or a left leaning Canadian version of those British tabloids that they try to pass for "newspapers" in England.
