Although I'm personally not a fan of using URL shorteners on forums where there's no character limit, I like seeing what website I'm about to go to, especially since I browse MR while at work. I don't want to click on a bit.ly link that takes me to supersexynakedbabeswithbigtits.com ;)

In fact, my original "correction" was to use (url=Name of Link)http://whatever(/url), but apparently that code doesn't work on MR, and the filters still attacked the url. Odd. (Parenthesis for brackets, of course)

If you need any kind of savvy to effectively and productively use an operating system, the operating system is poorly designed.
Sorry, guys. New rules for the post-PC era. Complexity is OUT. Get with the game. Forget conventional IT logic. It no longer applies.
Anyone who chooses the simplest operating system (like OS X and iOS, obviously) to accomplish the same tasks *is* savvy.
Gotta remember that those to OSes are locked down to certain hardware. Not so much Macs, as there is quite a big selection of Macs you can buy... But as for phones, you have a choice out of 1 phone.

Do these devices need to access anything on your LAN, or do they just need Internet access ?
If they need LAN access, then if you're thinking about just using mac address filtering for them, then why bother with WPA2e for the rest ?
If they just need Internet access, then use a different SSID connected to a VLAN that only has Internet access, obviously with suitable firewall rules in place.
I tend to suggest using a wired connection for anything that doesn't support wireless at the required security level, and if it only supports wireless at a level that doesn't meet the required security level, then I wouldn't purchase it.

Yes, but, the mac mini is designed as a desktop, since it needs an external monitor. Although, I'm fairly certain, that, as people posted above, this card reader was put in there for apple's video editing customers, since apple does make a nice business in that industry.

Backlit keyboard would take it to another level. Theres just something very awesome about the backlit keyboards. I dont need to look at the keys to type, I just like the esthetics of it all. I would also like to see current gen processors in a current gen model. The last thing that I could ask for would be edge to edge display with zero bezel around the display and trim up around the keyboard. Thats all extra bulk as far as Im concerned.

wonder if this is why direcTV never came out with this functionality. Generally they are ahead of the curve (TWC) with comes to actually providing value for the customers, to some degree.
Until not that long ago Fox controlled DirecTV, so that is likely why.
They have a program you can use on your computer to watch your dvr from your computer, but it has issues.. One is it does not work on a computer with dual monitors, which is just dumb.

So I am having my first surgical procedures in *looks at widget* 16 days, and the thing that scares me the most is the general anesthesia...
In actuality, general anesthesia may be more important than the skills of the surgeon. My most vivid memory of the anesthesia given for my hernia repair years ago was when the doctor told me to count backwards from 100.
I got down into the upper 40's and wondered if that was normal. Then I heard the doctor say, "This patient is considerably more resistant than most others ... let's increase the flow." I immediately had misgivings about agreeing to the surgery at that point.
I must have drifted off seconds later because the next thing I remembered was awakening in the recovery room. The procedure went smoothly and I've never had any problems since. I would not fret much over it. Best wishes on everything.

In Nashville for unleaded it is $3.80 a gallon. I have to use premium so the gas I use is $4 a gallon.

If the RAM/Battery life bumps are in I'll reconsider, especially since my wrists are okay with the magic mouse and an Apple laptop > (why I didn't use my Magic Mouse with the Airs/Pros I tested over the last month > duh).

My only gripe that in in a normal year you need to sell 170,000-250,000 records to get Christmas number one, the X-factor single has already passed this mark so unfortunately it looks like more people have been buying it to prevent Rage winning. So Cowell wins either way, no such thing as bad publicity.
Incidentally, I'm not savvy with reality TV (I prefer reality) or FaceSpace Books, I heard Zane Lowe play the song about a week ago and thought, what a classic, I haven't heard that for years and went out and downloaded it. I don't agree with the people saying it's not a good song, in 1992 Tom Morello's guitar playing was groundbreaking and the lyrics ideally suit this chart battle.
But to paraphrase another Rage song, you can't rebel by buying something.

This would greatly improve the usability of airplay, in my opinion.
Imagine you had your TV on some random channel, while surfing the internet on your iPad. If your TV supported AirPlay, then you could just click the Airplay button on your iPad, and the random channel would be changed to the Airplay content. You wouldn't have to change the tuners over to Apple TV. Much more convenient.

I'd rather have T-Mobile than Verizon just because of costs. T-Mobile actually has decent plans compared to other cellular companies.
