Believe the Hype, it's a Sequel!

I know Chuck D. told you "Don't believe the hype", but in this case you really should. The Dark Knight was greatness. A sequel better than the original. A better comic book film than Iron Man. Iron Man is much more fun than The Dark Knight, that's for sure, a better summer popcorn super hero movie, but The Dark Knight is a better film. Darker. Well, much, much, much darker, but better.

All that talk about "Ledger should get an Oscar, blah, blah, blah." Man, I gotta say, pretty dang valid. I don't know if he will win one, but I really do think he should at least be nominated. He walked away with this movie. He actually ran away with it. Better than Nicholson. Yep, I said it. Better than Nicholson. Do yourself a favor and go see it, but don't take your younger kiddos (like I saw so many doing). The Joker is kinda a psycho.

The Watchmen - I'll Be Watching

Well, if the movies is a cool as the trailer I will be. After seeing some of the costume images awhile back, I had a nervous feeling about this movie. But after watching (get it, watching?) the trailer, I'm much more psyched about seeing this. I guess it's time to pull the book off the shelf and re-read it, I have until March, so I think I've got time. Good grief, it's been like 20 years since I read it. I've forgotten more about it than I remember. It's funny how they call it a "graphic novel" in the trailer. Technically, it's a collected mini-series in trade paperback. But to quote Nigel Tufnel from Spinal Tap... ''That's nit picking, isn't it?''

Now, if I can only get ticket to see "The Dark Knight" this weekend.

Spookytown.net and a Few Sketches

I finally did something with Spookytown.net, it's not much right now. It's just sort of a quick information page with sketches and and stuff. Speaking of sketches, here are some I did recently.

Eyebrow Girls Make Their Debut in Vegas

A while back, I posted some website illustrations I did for eyecandy custom eyebrow stencils. The product recently debuted in Las Vegas at a trade show and Nikki, the creator, emailed me these photos of their booth. Not only does it feature the "eyes and eyebrows" logo I created for them, but also one of the girls I illustrated as well. She told me they will soon have a billboard off the Tollway here in Dallas and a write up in D-Magazine. Very cool! So go to their website and get your eyebrows in check!

Spookytown Ad and More

I took a Spopkytown pin-up and created a print ad for the book. It's supposed to appear in Samax's upcoming ghettoManga Quarterly. Samax, when's that coming out? Have I missed it already?A while back, I made the original mini comic available in a pdf format, for those who never read it and might be interested in it. Just click on the icon on the left to download it.

If you're interested, I have still have some sketchbooks for sale. It’s a 20-page mini-comic type book containing over 70 sketches, drawings and doodles that I’ve done will preparing to start the graphic novel. I printed up a limited edition of 100 books. Each is hand numbered and signed, I usually do a sketch on the back too. Just drop me a line if you'd like to buy one, they're just 5 bucks.
